Set up
-
Install the app
Android: use the Install app button above, or in Chrome tap ⋮ → Add to home screen → Install.
iPhone: in Safari tap Share → Add to Home Screen, then open Aurisse from your home screen.
-
Accept your invitation
Open your invitation link. Or open the app and paste the code: on iPhone, always use the code inside the installed app, as Safari and the home-screen app keep separate data.
-
Choose your username
This is how members find you. No email, phone number or other account is needed or stored.
-
Lock it and verify your contacts
In ⋮ Settings → Security, turn on App lock. In a chat, tap the contact's name to see your shared security code. Compare it in person or on a call, then mark them as verified.
Something not working?
- “This invitation code isn't valid”
- Each code works once and expires after 7 days. Ask the member who invited you for a new one.
- New phone or cleared browser data
- Your keys live only on your device, so old messages can't be recovered, by design. Ask the owner to remove your old account and send you a new invitation. Your contacts will see a “security code changed” notice and should verify you again.
- Forgot your app-lock passcode
- No one can reset it, not even the owner. That's what keeps your chats safe. Clear the site's data in your browser settings and ask for a new invitation.
Set up
-
Get invited
Tell the owner your Gmail address. They add it in the app under ⋮ Settings → Invite people.
-
Install the app
Android: tap Download for Android at the top, open the file and tap Install. If Android asks, allow your browser to install apps. Aurisse then keeps itself up to date.
iPhone: in Safari tap Share → Add to Home Screen, then open Aurisse from your home screen.
-
Open the app and sign in
Open Aurisse and tap Sign in with Google, choosing that same account. On Android, sign-in opens in your browser once; then tap Return to Aurisse.
-
Pick a username and verify your contacts
Choose a username. In a chat, tap the contact's name at the top to see their security code. Compare it with them in person or on a call. If it matches, nobody can be listening in. Tick the switch to mark them as verified.
Something not working?
- “This account isn't on the invite list yet”
- Tap Copy my email and send it to the owner. Once they've added it, tap Check again. Signed in with the wrong account? Tap Use a different Google account.
- Sign-in page opens but nothing happens
- In the Android app, finish signing in in the browser and tap Return to Aurisse. On the web, open Aurisse in Chrome (not inside another app's browser), and make sure cookies aren't blocked for this site.
- New phone or cleared browser data
- Your keys live only on your device, so old messages can't be recovered. Sign in again and reuse your username; your contacts will see a “security code changed” notice and should verify you again.
How your messages stay private
- Scrambled on your phone. Each message is locked with a fresh key that only the receiver's phone can unlock.
- Scrambled again on the way. The connection itself is encrypted, so anyone tapping the network sees gibberish.
- The server can't read them. It only holds scrambled messages, and deletes each one as soon as the recipient's phone has it (or after 7 days).
- Nothing to identify you. No email, phone number or Google account. The server keeps no IP addresses and no logs.
- Invite only. Without a valid invitation, the server shows nothing, not even who the members are.
- Invite only. Google accounts that aren't on the invite list can't read or send anything.
- App lock. A passcode guards the app, and the chats saved on your phone are encrypted with it. Optionally, the phone erases them after 10 wrong attempts.
- Disappearing messages. Set a timer per conversation and messages vanish for both of you.
- Invisible mode. Hide your online status and "last seen" entirely.
